HEARING
Deep within my hearing the breakers sound
Relentless seething, folding falling distant
Baptisms bring benthal yawnings to shore.
Yahweh speaks as rushing waters moving
Through the heart, echoing sacred words
Leading to the source, venerable language
Inner voices at the veil, narrow gate opening
To the path so straight. Late patience troubles
Me here beneath the Park’s palms, anxious
To take up my cross to write the final lines
To make my final recompense, listening
For my cue, calling me to the sea, to submerge
Buried dead in the ocean’s lather, covenant
To continue change, constant improving
Birth flickers in perfecting, to be like
I AM, still on the horizon, within my head.
