LAST HOUR

The last hour is the longest
as time fades the urgency
of my readings, a new century
brings queer perspective
as wisdom is commuted, dragged
shifted, respected frames of vision
slighted for the quick
material values venerated
a tired voice not heard, wandering
in inward searching, struggling
to renormalize, only learning later
a new intensity, higher energy, elevated light.
