One must always come back to oneself
came clearly, as I read the thirteenth book
of Tacitus, Roman historian, Publius Cornelius
under the pines that line a trail through
the coffee field, shades changed as Emperor Nero
Claudius Caesar Drusus Germanicus, turned
gradually cold and bold, before the burning fall
of Rome, clouds darkened the sun, a wind
blew uneasiness, I felt to leave, just as these
thoughts, words scribbled minutely change
the course of life, our deeds act upon us
our seemingly impervious minds transformed.
