MY CALLING

A voice woke me: “your medium is the poem”
A complex event in a multifarious field
Not the pulpit, another stage, we all have
Our context, like the Epistles of the Holy Bible
Written not to the wind but to those promised
With eternal life, Saints in Christ Jesus, baptized
By one having authority, called of God as was Aaron
Brother of Moses then receiving the Gift
Of the Holy Ghost by laying on of hands
By one possessing the higher priesthood called after Melchizedek.
A man name Simon, later known as Simple Simon offered money
To buy this power which effectuates such marvelous ordinances
But Peter rebuked him “Thy money perish with thee…thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.”

Relations are expressed by rules of order.
Christ insisted that “not every one that saith Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven…”many will say: “have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works?” Jesus will rebuke them and “profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Religion has become an enormous business
A literal cash machine, Simon quickly saw that potential
But I am called upon to walk humbly, blessing minds
With truth, grateful at times, for the martyr, William Tyndale
For his better words, meekly signaling the way through life’s labyrinth.
