Struggling to say, to bring to the surface
our deepest fears and longings
our most esteemed jewels of reflection
only guttural groans at times, then distinct
notes, patterns of sound form, merge
into words, complicated or delayed in thoughts
of ridicule, embarrassment of revelation
maturity often brings courage and wisdom
some things are better left unsaid, others
are worth the effort, as winter winds blow
the last leaves and dead wood knob stumps
from trees, seasons cleansing, once released
soon forgotten, yet precious gems
from profound depths come, only found, cut
foiled and seen, after arduous labor and means.
