WINTER IN PARADISE

Long afternoons of gray skies crying
Birds folded in their nests, heavy leaves
Shielding a steady downpour, curtains
Distant thunder rumbles, the creator’s
Instruments moving, tending His gardens
Ever greener as my love untruth inverted
A life of true lies, tears in a dream until
I awake naked and knowing in death
Returning to the sea…
