DAY 3
Rejecting the life of leisure
I was supposed to have had
series of selves layered in refuse
now out of reach, a repository
of prior compositions, cancelled
hours, used decisions, compost
of days divided, discarded
indecisions. Masks and metaphors
once played out on a stage
symbols for who I was, then
to become, Sophocles and Euripides
behind the curtain, later with ease
slipping out on another costume.
