In the Park a breeze keeping things cool
now on the taxi side, more protected
more people walking by too, one staked
out, waiting for a move, some known
faces from the space of memory, time’s
field unraveling, a twenty year present
I am stopping here, no more urgency
to discover another errand, content
with summer air and scandalous
flocks of green parrots arguing on
heaven’s senate floor to a leafy applause
wind wending my heart into broken
pieces, love is loosely knit to prove some
eternal deed that compounds error
but I am calm, willing now to finally rest
from such anxious searching and labor
lost to maintain the cupboards replete
and life’s erroneous measure to hold
wandering many a wood, leaving where
I stood, to sit at last, the least, to here repose.
